HiPay is a nationwide fintech super app used for daily payments, bill recharges, transport cards, and financial services. It is one of the most widely used consumer payment apps in Mongolia and plays a role in people’s everyday routines.

Challenge
As the product grew, usability started to suffer. Features were added quickly, core flows became fragmented, and onboarding did not clearly guide users toward their first successful payment. Many users registered but never became active payers.
Objective
Simplify the most important user journeys, remove friction from onboarding and payment flows, and build a design system that could scale with the product while improving collaboration between designers, PMs, and engineers.
Results
Monthly active users increased from 120K to 300K. The number of registered users grew by 200%. The number of users who actively pay with Hipay increased by 50% after the redesign.
